  1. Less than a year to go before the fire. Too bad; would have made a good loft conversion if manufacturing didn’t come back.

  2. What fire? Is it the hedstrom factory?

  3. @dhaisell- Yes they could have done something similar like they did in K-W like The Kaufman Lofts.

@Haust- Yes in January 1996, the old Hedstrom plant was badly damaged by a major fire and eventually torn down.

  4. And it’s an awkward-shaped plot of land because of the Clare Brothers office next door, so they haven’t done anything with it yet.

Only four years after the railway shops burned down, too, and six years before Hespeler station burned. Too much demolition by neglect in Cambridge.

  5. Fantastic image …so interesting

  6. And the Preston Springs Hotel nearby.. 2021! Not a fire but most certainly neglect.

  7. Did have a fire a couple years ago but not devastating.

And Canmet/Preston Car burned down a year or two after Hedstrom. I remember the plume of smoke that thing let off.

  8. @Klaucker- Thank you.

@dhaisell- Thanks for the interesting information on the other Cambridge area properties.
