Identity crisis. At some point if I remember the story correctly St. L&H 5648 received the long hood off another unit, possibly a wreck repair. Not long after this photo was taken the StL&H lettering on the nose was painted out and replaced by a crude looking “CP”. Here the 5648 is seen leading train 159 into Guelph junction on an overcast day.

  1. The Stan,Laurel and Hardy Railway Co.

  2. Ah yes, I shot 5648 in 2007 and the crude ‘CP’ on the nose looked horrible.

  3. So.. would this be a STLH reporting mark or CP????

  4. I guess that explains why it was later painted out, LoL

  5. This may explain it:

  6. I saw this unit on the lead coming down from Bala around this time as well. I guess most of us have caught it in various stages of paint fading.
