These were interesting times for Railfaning the GEXR. A number of newly built SD70ACE’s built in London, Ontario were briefly tested over the Goderich Exeter, between London and Stratford as well as some runs into Toronto. A number of CSX SD70ACE’s made the trip to Toronto as well as at least on CN SD70M-2. There probably was a number of others I may have missed, as I photographed a few UP units in Stratford as well. Here a pair of new CSX units lead GEXR train 531 east of Acton with a buffer car behind the power. The train has just begun to tackle the Niagara escarpment. From what I was told after the CSX units left Canada the headed to the Montana Railink for testing before finally making it to CSX. Unfortunately they never seemed to be a good fit for CSX and have since been returned to Progress Rail and some sold to other railroads.

  2. Nice lighting!

  3. What was the buffer car for?

  4. Honestly not sure why they had the buffer car, unless just in transit.
