Less than a year after gaining its orange-with-white-stripes livery, Crown Zellerbach RS-3 4097 is eastbound with log loads from Nanaimo Lakes on the Boulder Creek bridge at 12.2 miles west of Ladysmith on Friday 1974-07-26. Since it is fire season, the water car is continuously sprinkling the roadbed while a crew member has opened the soaker valve on the coupled end to minimize the chances of a bridge fire from brakeshoe sparks.
