There's something inviting when railway and a sidewalk are side by side with no fencing and well manicured landscaping exists, almost like the two can actually co-exist as opposed to Metrolinx' want to fence everything off with impunity. This scene along Cardigan St in Guelph is one of my faves in town.

  3. Congrats on #1400

  4. Nicely done on 1400.

Hard to believe there used to be multiple tracks and industries here (image circa 1940): https://guelph.pastperfectonline.com/photo/38F09488-11AB-4B0A-ADC7-162141839746

Note the hopper for Kloepfer Coal!

lots of tracks and the doodlebug parked nearby too.

I believe the leftmost track was from the CN Guelph Town spur and the crossovers were to access CN tracks on the other side. CN had a spur that accessed the lower downtown businessess and went quite a distance toward the CPR freight shed area.

  6. Really nice picture.
As a photographer, I am no fan of fencing and bridge handrails.
However recognizing the disruption and expense that each trespass and vandalism incident causes GO / Metrolinx, their views on fencing along high speed rail corridors and yards are understandable.

  7. Thank you gang. You are a gang right?? Oh no…
