Before returning back to Redwater on a visit to Edmonton, I took a quick look at the CP South Ed. diesel shops and found this. I am putting this photo in connection with Jacob's Agincourt Diesel Shop post from Jan/88. He mentioned the ATSF 3600, which brought me to this picture from the summer of 1987. The 3600 is paired with CP 3101. Behind are another pair the 3012 with an unknown GP38. To the left is CP 1564. SF 3600 has the name Argentine placed between the F and the 62/15 on the side of the frame. If there is a favourable way to have cars parked in front of the units, I hope this is it. :^)

  1. Oh my this is very cool

  2. The SPSF “Kodachrome” scheme always looked sharp. Note the big gap where the “SP” would have been applied ahead of the “SF” had the merger gone through. There’s a reason it used to be nicknamed Shouldn’t Paint So Fast…

  3. End of April 1987 I saw this same unit up at Parry Sound. This was the only leaser in the bunch that I have ever seen in this paint scheme. Maybe it was the only?

  4. This happened on occasion at CP Edmonton, where odd power would show up. A handful of times there was CP 4200′s in the yard, other times B&O or C&O power. They never stayed long, so you were pretty excited when finding something. The CP yard was a great place to go and see a wide variety of foreign cars, much more so than CN Calder. :-)

  5. Very nice. A much cleaner shot that the one I have here.

  6. Thanks Jacob and those who came for a view. My question for the day is, what happened to the bottom of the hood doors? They appear shut but look bulged out at the bottom along the walkway.
