The 4595 was one of the last GP9s in the "old colours" around southern Ontario. Here she leads a westbound freight through Bayview on a beautiful summer evening in 1970, accompanied by GP40 4013 and another GP9 (4571). After a level crossing accident on the Dunville sub in August 1971, she would be rebuilt without the dynamic brake "blister" and continue in service into the early 1990s (rebuilt to slug 273 in 1993).

  1. Great capture Doug! Here in Newfoundland, we had two G8′s (800 and 803) used for branchline service that were photographed as late as August 1978 still in their as delivered green and gold. Sometime after they were repainted in the CN stripes.
