Freight meet on an early spring morning. The snow is receding; a preview to the usual drabby looking ground once it is gone. At least the railroad activity is interesting. Eastbound #50 with switchers CP 8144, 8145, 8164 and 8150 meets westward CP 5520 and 5552 just to the east of the Guelph Jct station. All locos now gone from the CP roster.

  1. This is great!

  2. Thank you, Sir. I’m looking west at 2nd Line or Twiss Rd, or whatever it is called at that location. Wide open back then.

  3. Is #50 taking a switch or What is the foreground track? If this is similar to today either this train just worked the jct or it came off the Goderich

  4. The foreground track is the Goderich Sub & the eastbound with the ‘pups” is setting off in “Hamilton 5 track. That was accessed from the eastward track (this is pre CTC) through a crossover to the Goderich Sub. Hamilton 5 switch was just beyond the far crossover switch. All the tracks on the south side were named Hamilton1, 2 etc. On the north side there was mainline 1, 2 & 3 parallel to the Galt Sub & the tracks parallel to the Goderich main were called Goderich 1, 2 & 3.
