Impressive collection of stored power building up at the GIO facility off Philips Rd. From the right, JLCX 3502, CN (IC) 2462, CN 2019, CN (BCOL) 4623, and these eyes could not make out the last two, 24xx and a 20xx. I guess these are all stored in a safe place (NO trespassing) pending a new home. Rescued from the scrapper.

  1. A great find Mr. Mooney, that location eluded me last week.

  2. Thanks, Terry. Lets hope the line gets longer !!!

  3. Nice line up Mr. Mooney. I see there is also an old cab behind the units. Mr. Host recently posted a nice photo job of the JLCX 3502 in 2021. http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=44993
Nice talking with you guys. :-)

  4. Whats the deal with these being saved? Is there some discussion or intel on this?

A total of 46 were sold to SLM according to sources and they cannot recieve that many. With the recent theft of copper cabling in the area I suspect they are being stored safely until they can make room at a
Slm but that’s just my Two cents without a source on the truth

  5. I agree Steve a better place to store them. I don’t think any of them figure in Gios future. Even 3502 is supposed to go back to LDS being swapped for a GP38 painted LDS black! 3502 has some serious mech. issues i’m told!

  6. There are no more GP38′s – one is at ETR and the other in Tillsonburg (GIO). One will have to come to welland…..

Not sure why they sent one to Tillsonburg if so.

  7. NiagaraMike, 3502 is owned by JLCX, different lessor then LDSX.

Stephen I herd speculation on the GP38 in Tillsonburg was so they don’t need to run LHF all the time and if one fails there is a spare on site. Also GIO owns ETR now?

  8. Thanks HomerJay Glad you are here.

LDSX owns both gp38′s and one is at ETR for a temporary assignment to test bigger power.

It will likely go to welland after unless LDSX gets another. They haven’t yet.

  9. Homerjay84. While 3502 is owned by JCLX, I understand the lease has now been taken over by LDS. Awhile back 2 LDS trucks were at the Trillium Phillips road facility trying to assess 3502′s issues. They are not able to correct the problems on site so its going back to Sarnia at some point.

  10. NiagaraMike, most likey a repair contract as JLCX is BC based numbered business.

  11. I can confirm this, LDS does work for JLCX among many other railways, shortlines and industrial operations. Anything in a 4-6 hour radius they have and can do with mobile services.
