Get the shovels out!
Heavy snow and a strong wind have left a mighty big drift all around the Thompson station and is now making its way up and over the roof of the building. The HBR front end loader has gone down the platform to make a clear path for passengers to detrain, and, for the fuel truck to make its way to the locomotives.
There was no walking into town on this blustery day. 15 minutes outside to snap a few pics, then back on board to the Skyline car for a large hot chocolate.

  1. Great “white” Christmas view Paul, missing all that “white stuff” today in North York. Love the idea of retreating to the Skyline dome car for a steamy hot chocolate – a great way to get rid of winter chill ! Merry Christmas, John

  2. Good morning John, and Merry Christmas to you as well! No snow in Binbrook this morning either. +4C feeling 0C
Was on VIA 005 & 006 The Skeena in late November. The Park car interior was in its original pastel green with individual chairs in the bullet lounge area. Classic. Would love to share the pics with you.
All the best to you in 2024.
    Paul

  3. You captured Canada’s ‘Polar Express’ Paul! Well done and looking forward to seeing more of your adventures in 2024! – Ken

  4. Good morning Ken. Thanks as always for your kind and encouraging comments. I’ll be on VIA #1 & #2 The Canadian again from January 21-30. Hoping to get better acquainted with my new Nikon before and during the next adventure. Pics to follow! :-)
