Looks like were gonna need a tunnel
A three-day stay in Jasper after a trip on VIA 005 and 006 The Skeena to Prince Rupert and return is over, and I'm now on my way back to Toronto.
On an absolutely beautiful afternoon, VIA #2 The Canadian is running at track speed past Mile 220.0 on the CN Edson Sub. between Henry House and Devona, AB on November 28, 2023.
The solid rock wall in front of us will send The Canadian through numerous curves and tunnels as it navigates through the majestic Rocky Mountains east of Jasper, AB.
Another much appreciated edit by a good friend. :-)

  1. Nov.28th and only a skiff on the upper slopes, if the moisture is not coming down here, it is coming down somewhere else. My guess is, they wish it would move on. :-(

  2. Wow, that is stunning ! VIA should be sponsoring your trips for their advertising value ! ;-)

  3. Thanks for the comments guys. Very much appreciated. :-)
Oh wouldn’t it be nice if VIA sponsored a trip, or two, or five! :-)

  4. Paul, another magnificent picture ! Wow, what a “rock wall” up ahead ! Looks like the river on the right is “high water” and the “lone pine” is striking. Thanks for posting, John

  5. Majestic. Simply majestic, as this scene reminds me of a ‘group of 7′ painting of some sort. You’ve captured the true essence of what train travel is…which, is to be enjoyed.

  6. John / Todd, thanks for your kind comments.
I sure lucked out with that photo. A beautiful day, extraordinary scenery, great lighting, clean windows, and a perch in the dome section of a Budd built stainless steel Skyline car on The Canadian.
Another totally enjoyable trip. Retirement is treating me quite nicely! :-)

  7. Very nice, Paul. That’s Windy Point on your immediate left, with the Miette Range in the distance and the Athabasca River on your right. Such a scenic area.

  8. Thanks for the additional location details mile27. Yes, it is such a great location to travel through on The Canadian any time of the year.

  9. This is incredible Paul! You would never say that it was shot through the glass of the dome! Unreal! – Ken
