West of Hinton by about three miles, Maskuta Creek flows into the Athabasca River, and CN has a significant steel deck-plate-girder bridge to cross that creek. On Saturday 1987-05-23, CN 5333 and two others hauled a grain train westward there enroute Jasper, with a large sand, gravel and concrete operation (no rail access) in the background.

    Very nice! You can’t get that shot anymore, the trees have grown in too much. However you can still shoot the bridge from a similar angle.

    Dave, the shot was taken from Highway 40, which heads towards Brule, Grande Prairie and Alaska.
