The morning sun rises over GM Oshawa, where G&W's Railsynergy job has just finished spotting frame loads inside the plant. Shortly, they will spot the empties back in the CN yard, before running down the General Motors Lead to lift loaded racks.

  1. Sad to see the end of CN service at Oshawa. I spent a lots of my career at Oshawa.

  2. It is a great shot but have to agree, when CN transfers a former “A” class account to G&W (or any short line operator)…it is never good

  3. Real nice Jacob

  4. Switching from Class 1 railroad to switching railroad is a cost cutting measure not only for the Class 1′s but also for General Motors

Surely they are paying a far lower price to have cars handled than what CN/CPKC would have charged back in the day.

Also, G&W Rail Synergy has agreements to use both CN/CPKC so two railway service is maintained.

This is a nice shot, it’s too bad it took a forest fire to make it look like this. I find these bittersweet because of the truth of what made this scene is a nightmare for those affected ;(

  5. Excellent photo Jacob.
