In the early morning hours of November 5, CN L546 made a trip east along the Uxbridge Sub to Lincolnville, where two cars from the defunct York Durham Heritage Railway were waiting to depart for their new owner; the VIA Historical Society.

Limited to 15mph due to not having an SBU, the movement consisting of RPDX 2514, a 1954 Snack Car of ONR/VIA/CNR heritage, and RPDX 9636, a 1954 baggage car of VIA/CNR heritage, is seen passing Unionville GO station. On arrival at Scarborough, the cars will be runaround and taken to Oshawa. Eventually these cars will be sent to OSR shops at Salford for painting.

  1. Interesting. How did the cars get to Lincolnville?

  2. I’ve been told trackmobile or Brandt truck.

  3. And a chainsaw to clear the line – there were lots of downed trees due to the ice storm much earlier this year, it had to be cleared off first

  4. So, what trick or code do you have to type in to have a photo stay on top of the first page, like this one. 2 rounds of photos have been put up over the last 2 days, but, this one still enjoys the top spot. It would be fun to have this ability on occasion. :-)

  5. Nice work Jacob.

  6. Thanks gents. Not sure, Larry. One of the moderators might have bumped it up as something “newsworthy.” Unexpected in any case.

  7. Newsworthy photos get added on top if they risk waiting too long before they get there. Part of the issue is there is no other way to do it, I can’t change order of how things are presented.

And yes this was newsworthy. News photos are only news for a brief time, and if we waited 2 days it would no longer be news.

  8. Nice ones @CameronApplegath and @JacobPatterson
