An old London & Port Stanley electric motor #L2 sat for many years on a lonely spur down near the Toronto waterfront. I cannot remember exactly where, as the spur I believe has been removed for quite some time. The motor was purchased by a private individual and moved in 1993 to Brampton. It was subsequently relocated to the Halton County Radial Museum at Rockwood, ON in 1997 and remains there as part of their collection. In the view looking North toward the CN Tower one might ask "Where is the City"?? Well, it IS back there........somewhere.

  1. This units sister, L1 is currently housed at the Elgin County Railway Museum in St. Thomas

  2. This spur curved down from Bathurst St, crossing Queen’s Quay by Loblaws and going to Canada Malt and some customers along the harbourfront. There was a little rail museum there for a while, but it was never very concrete and the collection was dispersed in the late 80′s. Some pieces like CN S2 7944 were scrapped, others like the TTC streetcar 2300, TH&B caboose and the vinegar car went to John St. Roundhouse, others to private collections/other museums.

  3. YES!! Down to Canada Malt. Thats it. You have it right. Of course I should have remembered that, having worked a million years (it seemed) for Loblaw, but the brain cells have once again failed me…gittin’ old ya know…..(sigh)…THANKS for this!!!

  4. Arnold, do you know where this one was stored in Brampton under private ownership? On a rail spur somewhere or someones property?

  5. No, Mr.Dan, I do not know where it was kept. You’d think inside to prevent vandalism, but I guess this is a question for the Halton Museum people.
