CN G840 passes a group of "lowing" cattle at Jelly as the crew aboard the CN 5609 East has recieved its yarding instructions from "CN Neebing Yard" to setoff it their headend 14 cars to a track at Neebing, the "slug": CN 255 behind the CN 2416 is to go to the Neebing Shop track and the balance of the train to yard into two tracks over in Port Arthur.

Typically a late night train, CP 247 makes an unusual afternoon appearance as it rolls northbound along the Hamilton Sub and through a soybean field on the way to Guelph Junction. Because of the trailing SD40-2s, which seem to be getting even more difficult to catch on the mainline these days, a chase to the Junction ensued.

We stumbled upon this BN facility when we were looking for parking for Expo 86. The GPS location that I used is a best guess as to the actual co-ordinates.
It looks like BN had a good TOFC operation in Vancouver.

After a nice GO train ride from Toronto, I arrive at Bayview Junction. Just as I arrive, I hear a train departing Aldershot yard. Sure enough, a few minutes later this train comes around the bend with a friendly honk and wave from the engineer.

<b>Last train:</b> At 13:44 on October 2 2013 CSXT 2574 and Caboose (Operation Red Block) 900074 arrive in Wallaceburg for the last time. There was much fanfare at the RTC/Bridgetenders office as about a half dozen employees from various trades were on hand to witness the event. <br><br>In this scene, the RTC waves goodbye to the crew as they walk to their train to start their work, while various other employees (Clerks, Bridgetenders, Maintenance of Way/Signals) look on.<br><br>For a close up of the train, <a href="http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=11553">click here</a> and for more, 'search' the site. In addition to the "Dofasco" ore train, CN occasionally ran ore trains to points in the United States through Hamilton and Fort Erie. (Perhaps another member can comment on how often such trains ran and their destinations.) In any case, this train has a nice consist of new C630m 2001 (delivered in August!), as well as RS18 3724, GP9 4573, and RS18 3859.

I can't say I ever shoot much on the CP mainline, mostly because activity is infrequent and the power is usually mundane. I did however want to get a shot of a train coming into the Hunter Street tunnel and a train coming out of the tunnel, and I managed to do both on June 10. Here, 8910 leads 255 into the tunnel with the former TH&B Station in the background. I find it hard to believe this tunnel used to be double track. Sure would have been fun to watch the TH&B geeps ply these rails.

Normally I took all my BCR pictures in North Vancouver,Williams Lake,or Quesnell. On the day I took the attached picture of BCR 617 I was in North Vancouver enjoying a beautiful sunny day and the freedom to slowly wander the BCR yard & shop area. The locomotive sat in the wash rack and I thought it would make an interesting picture! Hope you enjoy it!
Today all that was there is long gone and the CN RY has control of the area. I guess that the little sign that said "NO CN Locomotives beyond THIS POINT" is long gone also.

With the Toyota manufacturing plant in the background, CP 1501 and 8162 slowly approach the Cherry Blossom Road crossing after setting-off a cut of auto racks at the facility during a spring morning. The area around the Toyota plant had yet to be completely developed as it is today and there were still many fields surrounding it then.

<b>Steam and Snow</b>: A January day in Winter finds privately-owned Reading 4-8-4 2100 outside the Elgin Country Railway Museum's St. Thomas shops, lettered as "Ferroequus 2100". It was in steam that day (hiding two crewmembers by the drivers) and took a run, west down the yard and shortly returned missing its bell. It was found a little later and brought back (I think at this time they still thought they could run fan trips but these never occured during the engine's time in St. Thomas).

A maze of branch lines operated out of Prince Albert, with CP often utilizing CN lines to access CP branches. One was the Nipawin Turn for 18 miles on the CN Paddockwood sub. to a junction at Sharpe with the CP White Fox sub. eastward to Nipawin. Typical service was a pair of MLW RS-23s and a caboose on CN from Prince Albert to Sharpe then on CP to Meath Park, then picking up grain loads through to Nipawin, then empties westward with setoffs at active grain elevators up to Meath Park, then running cab hop home to Prince Albert. On Tuesday 1976-09-28, that is what 8015 and 8017 are doing, westbound at Gobeil Road and less than a mile from CN track at Sharpe.

<p>Today, this is empty grade; track extends northward from Prince Albert only 8 miles to White Star (Carleton Trail) and westward from Nipawin to Choiceland (Torch River Rail).</p>

Due to Union Station revitalization and signal improvements on the University Line, the TTC has been turning back service at St. George and Union Stations on selected Sundays and weekends. This creates an opportunity for rollsigns to be set to destinations other than Downsview and Finch, which are seen every day.
