Christmas week 1987 finds Engineer Ray Boyd at the controls of Terra Transport Mixed Extra 941 West about to depart from Grand Falls for Corner Brook. Just days after this photo was taken, a CTC rule saw the coach service removed from the consist until the following April. For the first three months of 1988, Terra Transport would operate the train formerly known as # 203 as a freight only service. This photo with it's modern day counterpart and many others can be seen in 'RAILS ACROSS THE ROCK - A Then & Now Celebration of the Newfoundland Railway' by Kenneth G. Pieroway and published by Creative Book Publishing of St. John's, Newfoundland. Photo by author.

  1. Was the coach at the rear of the train then?

  2. Yes, you are correct. It was just before the caboose and behind a box-baggage. I’m hoping to post the tail end picture in the near future!
