The smell and sounds of burbling Alco/MLW power is uniquely Canadian National, even in 1978. One of two FPA-2u  (the original 244 engine (1600 HP) replaced with the 1800 HP Alco 251B engine) on the CN roster CN6758 is back to back with FPA-4 6761 ( also present is FPA-4 6774 and FP9A 6539) in this April 1978 negative exposure at the CN Spadina service facility and roundhouse.   1. Beautiful,I wish I had had a good cam then.

  2. Really appreciate the Editors’ special consideration. At the time the negative was exposed it was impossible to take a ‘proper’ roster shot given how units were assembled. Also time was of the essence given the haste Via Rail was repainting equipment. sdfourty.
