Great!! 7436…..the first Canadian Geep painted Conrail. Still in the unofficial Canadian Conrail Paint Scheme.
Nice shot, Arnold! On a recent visit to this location I was wondering what kind of signal used to sit on top of the now signal-less stand, now I know thanks to this photo.
When we were first married in 1975, we went to visit my father-in-law who lived in Welland. We took CN from London to Aldershot (or was it Burlington?) and then the CP/TH&B Budds to Welland. We did exit the train at this Yard office/station in this photo to the best of my recollection, but I didn’t record any part of the trip on camera. My father-in-law picked us up and we were given the grand tour of all the changes resulting from the re-alignmnet of the Canal. That’s a story for another day.
Back to your photo Arnold, I’d be interested to know what the story is behind the red bell on 7436 Was that Conrail practice, or did these units ever find their way to a CP shop on a Starlite or Kinnear train?
Unfortunately, Ronald; most of those with the answers are probably no longer with us considering the photo is already almost 50 years old. Or, of course, do not follow RP.

Well I’m still on the right side of the sod so to speak. The Canadian custom paint job included red bell, horns, whitewall tires, and black battery boxes. The St Thomas shop did a few that way until we got our hands slapped and had follow the Conrail official paint diagram.
Arnold, what I did right was to go to work often. We joke that since I was at work over half of the time, we’re actually only been together 25 years. The grandkids laugh at that one. One of them, by the way, is starting to train for a new job in August, as a CP Conductor.
lonloco, thanks for that info. I guess I was thinking of the many red parts that started showing up on TH&B power in later years. By thy, it saddens me every time I see what little is left of the CASO. We used to have a job out of Woodstock on CP that went to St. Thomas. We would usually take the PC, later Conrail, delivery past BX tower, he’s line us through the crossovers, and we would shove our cars into the yard on the south side. It’s difficult to believe that the only part of that scenario that’s left, is BX tower.
