Another in a series of old stations; this one along Station Rd N (where else?)in Kirkland Lake has been gone for a long time. I'd love to hear from anyone with information regarding its' demise. It doesn't look all that bad, but neither the station nor the freight shed (up the line) I think lasted any more than 5 or 6 years after this photo was taken 40 years back.

  1. In August of 1976 I remember standing outside this station waiting for the Rouyn/Englehart passenger train to pick me up. I then changed trains in Swastika to head south. I remember being disappointed that the train had a CN F-unit on it. I was hoping for one from the ONR. I believe it only had one coach car.

  2. Connecting passenger service on the ONR? That IS a long time ago. Much appreciate your note.

  3. I have a PDF of the ONR passenger schedule circa 1967. It was train #84. Arrived in Kirkland Lake from Rouyn at 8:11pm. It met the overnight ONR train to Toronto in Swastika. Sadly I only have that one page which doesn’t include the schedule for the Toronto bound train.

  4. Good view of this old station. I like the boxcars next to the building (Freight House?) in the background.

  5. was closed but still standing in 1973 when I left KL. Use to visit my gram on the train when she was travelling from Timmins to Toronto, while the train stopped in Swastika to board new passengers.
