Hands up those who have seen enough CN 6060 pictures already. Oh never mind. Here's another one. Dug this one out of the 'station' files; I was down in the Falls area and had not yet taken a picture of the old CN Train Order Office located on Church's Lane off Whirlpool at the time, so meandered over. It was utilized at the junction of the Grimsby and Stamford subs. This was a Wednesday, and since the coal-fired CN 6060 did the tourist runs from Toronto to Niagara and back on Wed and Sat., it was best to hang in for the train. Good idea. Within a couple of years both train and station/office were no longer active here.

  1. One can never have too many “Bullet Nose Betty’s”

  2. Keep ‘em coming!!

  3. What was the purpose of this station? Train orders? Jct of welland and Stamford subs?

  4. Train orders is right, Mr. Host.

  5. Stephen, I think you meant Jct of Grimsby and Stamford Subs. The Welland Sub was on the West side of the Canal.

  6. You are correct on the Stamford, given the date 1977

however before the re-alignment Clifton to Port Robinson was part of the Welland sub into the early 70′s:

Once the re-alignment was completed, the Welland sub ceased to exist.

West side of the Canal was the Canal and Thorold subdivisions. plus all the N&ST track. I have no idea how all the N&ST and Steam line track was re-aligned, it’s a crazy mess of tracks on the west side now :)

With very little traffic I may add.
