A cool misty morning on the "mountain", Kelly Lake hill. This is the south switch at Moran siding on the BC Rail Lillooet subdivision. We are heading north on the Rocky Mountaineer "Fraser Discovery". The signal governs the south switch "locally-controlled self-restoring dual control switch", also the north switch is signaled and self-restoring dual control switch. These switches were installed on several sidings on heavy grades and would restore the switches to "normal" after a train clears in the siding. This helped prevent trains having to stop and restore switches on the grade.

  1. High Green, always the best signal to get!!!Nice shot Doug.

  2. I found your caption very interesting to read. Your photo shows the extent of the grade very well. Thanks for posting your “at work” series. :-)

  3. If you subscribe to http://www.trainorders.com for the past several years I have been posting a series on the Canadian discussion forum entitled “on this day”, photos taken during my many trips while at work on BC Rail
