Caption: With work resuming on the scrapping of 5824 today,the engine and main alternator (green tarp) are left alone on the frame with part of the handbrake assembly attached. On the front of the frame can be seen an amount of sand that spilled out from the sandbox when the nose was removed.

  1. Crazy question but how do they remove the fuel tank without lifting the unit? Or do they?

  2. They put wood blocking under the tank, torch off the bolts holding it, hook on some chains and pull it out with the CAT heavy equipment :)

  3. And we’re certain this is going to be completely scrapped ?

  4. The prime mover,alternator and traction motors will be recycled. everything else has been chopped up though…

  5. Would make a nice Open Air car for the South Simcoe Rwy. :o )
