Well, a morning surprise as the night road freight was heading home in daylight on the Guelph Sub, so I went out for a quick shot before breakfast. Maybe one day we'll get sun around here, but this was the first CN powered road freight from Mac Yard, which apparently ran light power west from Toronto, dropped off 2 more units for Kitchener (CN 4771 and a sixth GMTX unit - 8 engines are assigned to Kitchener now) then 431 worked back east toward Mac at Kitchener and Guelph. I have a feeling daylight road freights like this will be difficult to get once things settle so I'm not taking any chances if I have have an opportunity to get 'em.

  1. What time was this?

  2. 0800

  3. I would say there’s daytime hope during the winter; especially after snow. 5 hours to Stratford isn’t shocking (with work on the way) when the switches are full of snow, and the dispatcher won’t let you leave Kitchener until the Go’s are gone. There’s hope!!

  4. @Dave Brook: I agree. Train movements can always be plagued with unexpected events which delay their schedules.

  5. Dave just remember, A431 only goes as far as Kitchener.

  6. So Mike Da Costa needs to book just a little more rest then………:)
