A northbound Delaware & Hudson train on the Lacolle sub, powered by Alco C424 DH 462, is approaching the junction with CP's Adirondack Sub in namesake town Delson = Del(aware & Hud)son. I suspect that this train crossed into Canada from Rouses Point NY, passed through Napierville QC, and will continue across CP's St Lawrence Seaway bridge to the St-Luc yard.
From the track and road configuration, I believe this picture was taken at Rue de la Station grade crossing. This was a lucky catch, I was close enough to hear it coming. One of the better moments on my first long independent road trip, returning to Quebec after 9 years. I was in the area to visit the Canadian Railway Museum, but it wasn't open that week.

  1. I did not know that delson was named after the d&h. Now the museum needs a d&h locomotive :)

  2. My favourite road. Nice image!!! (I like the French on the crossing sign too)

  3. Wow! You are correct about the location, as well as its origin and destination. At that time the track the train is on was owned by D&H subsidiary Napierville Junction Railway, now it is CP’s Lacolle Sub.
