Something a little different. In 1997 CP was getting desperate once again for additional power, and as a result acquired this string of NS units. They moved as train #521, from USA to Toronto. Power from the rear unit (shown, note flag) NS 3170, 1585, 1606, 1607, 3173, 3194, 3176, 3193 behind leader CP 6045. In this view the consist is approaching Campbellville Rd crossing and then will run east on the Galt Sub.

  1. What a fine catch. If I remember correctly, these NS high-hood SD’s stayed around on CP throughout 1997.

  2. Once in a while, light power proves to make a great shot possible.
    Well done sir!

  3. Pretty neat catch! Of note, NS would rebuild and restore 3170 to full Southern “tuxedo” scheme in 2015

  4. What an awesome catch!
Here I went all the way to Spencer to shoot that 3170 while you caught it right in your back yard.

  5. This is beyond amazing. I’ve shot a few high hood NS units ‘leading’ in the US… never did get one LEADING here…
