A late 143 led by CP 8715 heads into Hamilton after meeting a late 247 (9715 North) at Desjardins. 143 had a mid-train DPU, which the crew was talking with RTC about moving to the head end at Welland as apparently some CSX crews are not qualified for remotes. Before they got to Welland though they would be meeting a detouring 651 (9369 North) in Smithville. 651 would then meet 246 (8834 South) at Desjardins, before stalling and requiring a push from TH11 to get up the hill. All told, it was quite the flurry of daylight action on an otherwise typically dead Hamilton Sub. I only managed to grab this 143, though - I was working from home yesterday and it's a very short walk down to GO Station (aka begin/end CTC sign Park) so I scooted out quick for this one. Regrettably, I let 651 pass me by, which may have been the last of the detouring ethanol trains for now as 650 took its normal routing yesterday.

  1. Are the signals not turned on? They look dark.

  2. I just stand next to the fence on the walkway that goes over James St that connects the Metrolinx parking lot to the bus platforms.

  3. Funny because you inspired me to shoot here from another one of your shots :) I didn’t walk onto the platform; I stood on the saltbox.

  4. Yeah I like this spot – have come a few times now. It’s a nice spot for photos that’s easy to overlook and forget is even there.

  5. Nice James. I shot 246 here a couple weeks ago.
