Through the prairies not around them! Thats right this exCP SD40M-2 started out as D&RGW 5333 and is now owned by Mobil Grain. 5493 is seen here on the Last Mountain Railway at their small terminal in Aylesbury Saskatchewan.

  1. Haha. I see what you did there.

  2. Love these flared radiator units. Don’t think I ever shot a six axle variant with a flared radiator in CP (Doubt one is left. Anyone?)

    This is a Gem.

  3. what a beauty

  4. Now just imagine if they were to paint it up in Mobil Grain colours.

  5. I was kinda happy to be able to shoot a faded dual flag in Aylesbury last August (I think I shot the other one if I recall correctly). I like it as it is but maybe I’m an outlier haha.

  6. It still looks decent after all these years.

  7. Quite remarkable I think. May 2020 and here we have the old flexicoil trucks with the brake cylinders located down below between the wheel sets. I have not seen those in some time.

  8. Spiffy! Last time I saw this engine was in Chapleau quite a few years ago.
