This photograph was taken shortly after I had moved to a VERY small town north of Vegreville AB! All I can remember is that I had stopped to photograph some CN locomotives that were waiting for clearance to proceed on to LLoydminster AB. The locomotives had stopped near a convenience store which was a perfect spot for the crew to use to their advantage. (foot prints in the snow do not lie) The sky was clear and the temp. was VERY cold, but by being the ex-army type that I was I immediately got out of my van and photographed the locomotives, and the nearby retired CN station. The station was used as a restaurant at the time. The attached photograph is the track side elevation of the station.

  1. Beautiful. Nice to know somewhere people care about their history.

  2. Thank you MR Mooney for your comment! Railways are what built this country and our photographs do a good job of preserving that little piece of our history.

  3. No problem, lad.
Compare your shot with this one from the 70s; the station maintenance is impeccable and extremely pleasing after all these years.

  4. MR Mooney thank you for your earlier photograph of the Vegreville station. As for the BUDD CARS a lot towns in AB missed them when their usage ended. Funny thing is I spent many years around the BUDD CARS (VIA) while living near Victoria BC. I photographed them, stood under them, stood beside them and yet never rode on onen
