The Oakville subdivision was once home to countless industries and freight trains working the line. Today very few freight trains traverse the line east of Burlington West. Luckily during the daylight hours one can still catch the Clarkson local and a few transfer jobs between Oakville and Aldershot. The view off of the shared GO/VIA parking garage is one of the best along the line and illustrates how a number of one time rail served customers have long since vanished. The opening to the left once housed a rail served customer and CN for a brief period kept a pair of SW1200's here. Just to the right of the signal was a rail served lumber yard, which also housed former CP C630 4500 for a while before it headed off States side. Today the Ford assembly plant in the distance is one of the main sources of traffic for the line, along with an industrial area in Mimico. Here an Aldershot transfer job is seen departing Oakville yard for Aldershot, while a GO train disappears in the background.

  1. Nice view Marcus. Former CP 4500 also sat at the Mac Yard shop after for an extended period of time prior to heading to the US.
