Is it time to appreciate what GEXR brought to the Guelph sub? In the latter G&W years, the train was usually two or three SD40's, with one most often a SD45 with all 20 cylinders firing in SP paint (no logos), ping ponging back and forth between *Stratford* and Toronto every single day. If that happened today the youth and many others would be losing their minds. The best part? East in the morning, west in the afternoon, all in great light. You had it all folks. I didn't let the opportunity go....and it was rare if we had anyone else out following these trains at the same time. Today you have gaggles of people following CN west of Kitchener depending on the day and flavour of the week.... hear that beat? that rhyme? Craig Mack's whispering to you... "Time for new flava in ya ear.. I'm kicking new flava in ya ear"

  1. Very nice! Too bad the fence now wrecks most shots here now if you are lucky enough to even get a train. I miss the GEXR days too, luckily finishing work in the afternoon often allowed for a quick chase of 431. Nothing beats the sound of it struggling up the escarpment east of Acton.

  2. Miss the GEXR days. At least there was two guaranteed through freights almost daily in daylight.

  3. When 3054 had SP on the nose:

When 3054 was new to GEXR and numbered as 9392:

  4. Liking the Craig Mack reference Stephen! And wishing I got a chance to see the ex-SP unit. I never get up there being from the South. One day when I get a car.

  5. Hahah someone else might be a rock the bells listener…
