Back when I had a little more ambition I used to hike over the hill from Romford and wait for trains coming up the Parry Sound Sub. In this view from a rocky perch, CP 6022, 5790, HATX 515 and CP 3003 lead what I believe is train #401 (not sure). I liked this spot because I could see them coming from quite a ways off. Lead unit 6022 sold to Helm in 2013.

  1. I’ve often wondered if anyone else has shot from up there; that’s a favourite spot of mine these days. It shouldn’t have been a surprise that someone as prolific as you would have beaten me there by a few decades :)

  2. Everyone has been beat by a few decades. We walk along the footsteps of decades of people who have already had and performed the same as us.

There is little out there that’s new or novel – but it does happen. We just have to wait to see who did what , eventually.

  3. 8814N: Thanks. I am definitely amused.

  4. The 5790 still soldiers on for the CPKC, now in Beaver II
