What an era….I remember working on farms around Dunnville and watching the trains loaded up with Phosphate rock and ERCO materials…
Ahhh, the good old days ! You could hear the “GM chant” as the train struggled up the grade minutes before the train came into view . . . another classic scene thanks to a classic photographer. Thank you Arnold
Thanks for the “buttering up”, John. Happy New Year 2026 !!
This is amazing – Happy New Year Arnold and Gents! the one railway I wish I could have seen as a ‘railfan’.
A few years after this photo was taken I went to grade school starting in Grade 6 in Stoney Creek on Grays line. I could hear and see the EMD’s climbing the grade and making quite a ruckus, from the library, from the playground, etc but by then it was CP Rail… 1989. You could hear them screaming up the hill from my house too.. what a sound – so I can hear this photo.
Great pic of a great era. Thank you!
