It is hard to keep track of what I have posted and what I have not. I do not remember this one going to RP.
Anyway, a nondescript sort of day, and I am out at the old Zorra station, hoping for some action. This view is looking east along the Galt sub; with Lafarge structures visible as well as the line to Ingersoll on the right.
Most of what you see other than the main line is long gone, although Lafarge (concrete) still operates here. The station was a classic. Heck, it could boast two oil tanks !!! That is a lot of heating. No wonder it was demolished.
This is my last contribution for 2025. Happy New Year, everyone.

  1. The main line bolted rail is soon to be replaced with the CWR that has been played out on the shoulders.
Happy New Year to you Arnold!

  2. Nice. I dont see the signal that was located at right. Must be behind you. I know some signals were relocated.

  3. Signal was well behind me. As in 200 ft at least.

  4. As noted above, the welded rail is soon to be installed. The year before this, slag ballast was installed & that’s visible here.
With regard to the signals, if I recall, there was a double aspect staggered lens signal for eastward trains, located west of the St Mary’s Sub branch switch. There was also a single aspect westward signal with an “A” plate on it, west of the St.Mary’s Sub. This setup allowed a westward movement to operate between Zorra and the St Mary’s Sub switch, while at the same time allowing an eastward movement to depart Nissouri as far as the clearing point of the St.Mary’s Sub.
If an eastbound was following another train, an “approach medium (yellow over green)” signal could be displayed by the first staggered eastward signal west of the St. Mary’s Sub.while the east end of Zorra would be “approach” when the tail end of the train ahead cleared the next block east of Zorra.
At some point after this photo was taken, the standard siding signal setup was installed at the west end of Zorra for westward trains. I hope this info makes some sense.

  5. As always, Thanks, Ronald. I knew when I was going to post this shot we would hear from you and it is most appreciated.
