Caption: Many of us are frustrated by the strict control of property around the railroads. Fencing and No Trespassing signs, along with high quality cameras, are getting to be the norm. I thought posting this image might help clarify what has transpired over the years.
In this image, CN 8169, an MLW S-4, is in process of 'wyeing the pigs'. a daily (almost) procedure in which TOFCs are run around the wye in order to be in the correct position at the loading docks in Hamilton.
The engineer has just run the wye and he is now waiting for the signal in order to back the train into Hamilton.
Note there is a green signal on the right for a movement up the Dundas. Note the people on the tracks paying no attention whatsoever to potential danger on both tracks.
Railroads had to put up with this for years. No more.
