KCS MW 902 is one of two exBNSF C44-9Ws converted to MW service by KCS after a group of 20 exBNSF units was acquired from GECX. (not to be confused with the other 50 C44-9Ws acquired directly from BNSF) Most if not all the other C44-9Ws have been sold or are off the roster, making the two in MW service qualify as "oddballs" on an otherwise all AC GE roster. It sure is weird to think of a 4400hp 6-axle GE relegated to MW service.

    That sure is an odd one, i wonder why they wouldn’t just use available power that’s laying around for these trains.
