On Vancouver Island, the north end of the siding at Shawnigan on CP’s E&N Victoria subdivision crossed Renfrew Road at the north end of Shawnigan Lake, an area known as Mason’s Crossing for a nearby convenience store. On Tuesday 1977-06-07 at 1215 PDT, that is where Sperry car SRS 127 tucked away in the siding to meet northward freight train No. 51 led by GP9 CP 8531.

    I remember posting a pic of 8531 having a bit of an accident in Medicine Hat back in 1974. I mention this because I would have thought what units are on the Island would stay on the island; or did they have to go to the mainland for heavy maintenance.?
    Love the old Sperry cars !!
