I was all set for a nice evening image of VIA #79 pulling into the station with VIA 6780 & 6627 when at the last minute I decided to grab a shot of the old MoW structure next to the Station when this young fille in short-shorts got in my way. Thats the way it happens sometimes. Co-incidentally, this locomotive is the same leader as on my last upload at Hamilton W in the snow; originally after the formation of VIA a lot of these former CN units were painted in the yellow/blue VIA scheme and "CN" applied to the nose for reasons I do not understand. Then they were painted out (as in this photo) and "VIA" applied later. Besides other experimental tweaking, "VIA" did appear on the front of some units in blue paint, although most were in red.

    I think the person in the beige pants is Tony Desantis. The fellow in red might be the late Jan Hart.

    VIA was initially a CN brand, which probably explains the joint CN-VIA logos on a lot of the earlier repainted power. Around when the government took it over, it was likely changed to just VIA branding and the CN logos buffed off (power still in CN zebra stripes even had tiny “VIA” lettering applied by the roadnumbers).

    The weird thing is, at some point in the early 80′s they did away with the VIA nose logos on their F/FA units (for some odd unknown reason).
