A rather tattered old VIA Turbo power unit and trainset as seen from the Bathurst Street bridge in downtown Toronto. Within a year, Turbo Trains in Canada would just be another chapter in railroad history.

  1. All those who didn,t ride the front dome of this train really missed something nice to experience,.

  2. Coincidence?? Maybe. But strange how this photo gets uploaded and a couple of days later in this extensive mess that is my Den I found an article from Toronto Sun, Dec.15, 1996 regarding the Turbo. The last run was Oct 31, 1982, the day after this image was taken, and it was scrapped.

  3. I don’t recall seeing this picture when you first posted it Father M. Excellent shot; I guess you went to Trawna specially to catch that shot. Well done as usual.

  4. Nice shot. The Turbo is actually coming out of or going into the “Turbo Bay” at Spadina coach yard in this picture. I was a yardman there at Spadina before I became an engineer and one of the last moves of the day was to line the Turbo into the “bay” for servicing. They had to chance the brakeshoes every round trip.
