![CP H41, with the CP 3129 leading, is inbound towards NSC while one of the plant crews looks to take the crossover. H41 would reverse to clear the way for NSC. News broke today of new power for NSC on 396.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/IMG_6536-200x150.jpg)

![Not all that difficult to get morning light on CP here - in fact it's something I make sure to do at least a few times every year. CN on the other hand, has proved impossible until now. I was heading home from a brief chase of CP 133 and came across a light power 0700 heading towards some trackage an 0700 would usually never touch. Playing a hunch, I rolled the dice and headed straight for Windemere Basin and within moments was greeted by this scene, as were the four or five birders already on location. Turns out the previous night's 1600 wasn't able to finish their work so these guys were wrapping up the job.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/IMG_97861-200x150.jpg)

![On a bit of a wacky weather night - complete with extremely localized downpours, rainbows, and full sun - the CN 1600 Yard Job was a bit later than usual out of the yard. They're pictured here shoving towards customers in Hamilton's Far East. The head end coils are some relatively new business as far as I am aware - being unloaded in Eastport.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/IMG_7683-200x150.jpg)

![As mentioned here, the successor the CN U701, CP 822, arrived into Thunder Bay with 100 coke loads for TBTL on June 18. On the afternoon of June 19, the 0630 Yard Job went over light power McKellar Island to retrieve the train. If you look through the bridge to the right, you can see a view of the cars used for the operation - the same type used on the CN trains.

This had been a rather stormy day up until this photo, and a series of delays over at TBTL allowed enough time for some sun to come out for this shot.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/IMG_9036-200x150.jpg)

![In what might be some news out of northwestern Ontario, there is some competition heating up for the coke traffic into Thunder Bay Terminals in Thunder Bay. The coke loads, unloaded at TBTL onto ship, have historically been handled by CN U701 (inbound loads) and CN U702 (outbound empties) using run through power. From what I have heard, this may have been the last U702, as later in the week the first CP 822 ran (inbound coke loads for TBTL). Things of course can change and traffic can revert back.

I followed this train out of Thunder Bay, and they were going relatively slow for unit empties as they were having issues with their power. The diesel doc was quite surprised to learn/see they had no CN units on their train at all when they called him. The weather for the chase was mostly dreary - in fact this was only the second fleeting moment of sun I had seen in the previous 48 hours.

The operation at TBTL is quite impressive. This train arrived there the morning of June 13, all 99 cars unloaded that day, and had departed CN Neebing Yard midday June 14.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/IMG_8270-200x150.jpg)

![I was out shooting CP this morning on the Beach Branch when I saw CN coming behind in the distance. CP had one car for the interchange, and needing the Ottawa Street crossover to drop it, they held at Ottawa for CN to pass by. This allowed for this meet shot - one that I had been waiting for some time to do in proper light.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/IMG_7715-200x150.jpg)

![Thought this one was worth sharing, as it shows at least part of all four signal masts protecting the diamond between the CN N&NW Spur and the CP Beach Branch, just west of Gage Ave N in Hamilton. The case of water on 7071 adds the final Hamilton touch.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/IMG_7268-200x150.jpg)

![Being unable to build air all morning and needing someone to come from Sarnia to fix the problem (from what I heard they needed a torch to unfreeze some lines or something) a much, much later than usual CN L514 is seen shoving east on the Chatham Sub to clear the switch for the Sarnia Spur to head to Blennheim. ![I noticed earlier today I was sitting at 499 images, so figured I best post number 500. And for number 500 what better than one of my favourite trains (CN L562) at one of my favourite locations (Feeder). Pictured, they're shoving off of the CP Hamilton Sub and onto Rusholme Siding to access Trillium's Cayuga Spur (foreground) to head into Feeder Yard for interchange.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/IMG_6421-200x150.jpg)

![If memory serves, we were out walking the dog when I saw TH21 crossing Cannon Street on the Belt Line with cars for interchange for CN. When we got home I grabbed my camera and jumped in the car and met up with them at Ottawa Street.
