![Here we see CN detour train 326 lead by 5484, 2541 and 8933 heading up the Chrysler Spur minutes before he hits the Chatham Sub. for London. This once lightly used branch line experienced quite the increase in traffic over the two weeks that the tunnel in Sarnia was closed. On top of the 2-4 trains per day, another 4-6 were added, testing the jointed rail at the curves. It was a fun experience chasing these trains as they offered a variety of power and freight that rarely if ever comes to Windsor anymore (seeing frame cars here again was choice), and I got to meet some new railfans/ hangout with old ones. Some good times indeed.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC07482-3-200x150.jpg)

![It's a tradition for the guys at the ETR. Nearly everyday after picking up their cars from CN and CP, they head across the city to Windsor's west end and stop here at the south end of Ojibway yard - right across the street from Tim Hortons. As the crew enjoys their coffee and breakfast their train basks in perfect morning light. Today 107 has a handful of cars they'll kick around here before making a run down to Amherstburg in the afternoon.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/DSC06948-3-200x150.jpg)

![Railfans in the Windsor area have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of autoracks on the Essex Terminal since the Terminal bought the property of the old GM Transmission plant in Aug of 2017 and turned it into an auto transfer facility named Motipark Automotive Storage. The facility has been operational for over a year now, but no racks had been brought in yet. That changed on Feb 6 when around 50 of them arrived from CP. Here we see 104 & 108 switching the facility for one of the first times, with the former GM grounds at left and the ETR shops in the distance at right. A welcomed sight that will take some getting used to.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/DSC06854-200x150.jpg)

![Essex Terminal SW9 #105 is seen here heading south through Lasalle en-route to Amherstburg with 6 cars for Honeywell and 3 for Diageo. In the summer of 2013, Honeywell shut down their operation in Amherstburg where they made hydrofluoric acid thus cutting freight on this local. Diageo is still a customer however and is currently switched about twice a week.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ETR-aburg-local-9-200x150.jpg)

![After seeing Mike Molnar's recent photo of CP T-27 from this location, I thought I'd upload a photo of when the former CASO main was still in use. Here CSX Rougemere (Dearborn Mi.) to CN Van de Water (Windsor) transfer D718 is seen accelerating down towards the tube and into the U.S. with a 25 car train. Freight on this train includes two hoppers from Windsor Salt, two boxcars and some coils from Morterm Docks, a tank from Diageo (Crown Royal), two ADM hoppers, two more boxcars from Morterm before a cut of Fords auto parts boxcars and a handful of gondolas from Zalev Bros Scrap. This train was unique in that it used CSX Canadian crews, and was the last train to use the original approach to the tunnel after other transfers were canceled over the years. CP now handles all traffic through here.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/3.22-d718-north-200x150.jpg)

![A very slow trek down the CASO, GTW 5937 and CP 5746 are seen here approaching Gleeson Line, former site of one of the infamous pairs of wig-wags along with a hotbox detector that existed here in operation until the line was abandoned in 2011. This being the first train down the line since May 2011 - over 78 weeks - there were many delays, including every crossing. Several crossings had been paved over and all gravel roads had been covered in road debris, so personnel were sent out in the days before this to clear out the flangeways. It was still rough. CN and CP provided power on this rail train as they both had ownership in the line. These rails would be gone by the end of December.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Tilbury1-200x150.jpg)

![After dropping 5 hoppers and lifting 2 from the elevator behind, CSX local D724 accelerates west out of Tupperville at 15:29hrs heading towards Wallaceburg where he'll drop the head end hopper. Then, the slow trek back to Sarnia begins, arriving there after dark. The day started at 08:00 when the local departed Sarnia with 35 cars, 29 of which were bound for the SouthWest CO-OP in Wallaceburg.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/DSC01448-200x150.jpg)
