![After making a final run to Dresden to run around their train, CSX local D724 is now heading back into Wallaceburg after dropping a hopper at Tupperville, in what would be the second last westbound move over this line. They would drop the tank at Air Liquid in Courtright before returning to Sarnia by dusk.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/DSC00973-200x150.jpg)

![After switching Hiram Walker & Sons distillery on Windsor's waterfront, CN 7046 & 4135 head down the Chatham Sub. with a single tank car as they snake their way through the city eventually making it to Van de Water Yard. CN gave up this job during the summer of 2012 however the Essex Terminal picked it up and now switch the distillery.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/jan15-chatham-sub-200x150.jpg)

![I was riding my bike down Dougall Ave. when I saw this Local creeping under the E.C. Row Expwy, so I parked it and walked up the embankment to catch these two GP 9's returning to Van de Water Yard with eight loaded racks from Gen Auto, which closed a couple of years after this photo. The yard where Gen Auto was once located is now used to load Chrysler products onto autoracks, much busier with what seems to be an average of 25 cars per day. Note in the lower right you can see a stamp for 1930, when the bridge was built by the Michigan Central RR. In the right evening light you can see the letters 'M.C.R.R.' bleeding through the faded paint on the bridge.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/384-200x150.jpg)

![A group of children stand watching CSX 2574 shove 12 hoppers through Port Lambton as they sip on their slushies, not knowing they are watching history as this would be the last train to ride these rails since ownership of the line south of here was handed over to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent the next day. There was a BBQ/ pool party happening across the street from here and as I was setting up my camera someone on the patio hollered over at me asking if there was a train coming by, I told them there was and it would be the final train along here for a while, when the train came everyone at the party came out to watch it.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/DSC01310-200x150.jpg)

![Here we see a meet between train 439 (at right) and a local freight at Howard Ave. on the CASO. I had begun chasing the local to Hiram Walkers (GP9, GP38 and 1 tank) as they left Van de Water Yard and planned to shoot him at Howard and other spots along the way. As I stood there taking my pictures I had no idea that 439 was approaching behind me, but as soon as I put my camera down I saw it coming and was lucky enough to get this shot off of the two passing by each other. 439 would almost always use the crossovers located about 10 cars back to access the yard, but on some occasions, like when a yard job needed headroom on the main, or in this case a local is working, they would stay on the south track and use the crossovers past Dougall Ave. The track 5754 is on is now out of service.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/cn-local-200x150.jpg)

![Out for a bike ride this lovely autumn afternoon (with camera of course) and I came across this mixed freight leaving Windsor Yard. Driving by the very next day and these old-school crossing gates had come down with new ones being installed, saddened to see, but happy I got this pic of what was then basic power. Both units - 5962 and 5749 - were commonly assigned to Windsor.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/45y-10-200x150.jpg)

The place has expanded quite a bit over the past couple of years, extending two sidings this summer with more expansion to come.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/DSC05938-200x150.jpg)

![Essex Terminal GP9 #108 leads a hefty freight out to Ojibway Yard after picking up cars from CN and CP during the early fall of 2010. This area has been forever changed as The Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway has been built through here, the area at right to the road is now occupied by a berm planted with Pin Oaks, Swamp White Oaks and Silver Maples.
An overpass will be built here next year and work on the new Gordie Howe International Bridge should commence next fall as the Tender for the bridge - estimated at anywhere from $2.1 billion to $4.8 billion to build - will be awarded to the winning bidder next spring. A time machine shot may be needed for when the overpass is built :)](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/etr-200x150.jpg)

![CN 438 lead by CN GMD1 1412, CN 6020 and CN 7058 lead a short freight just North of Essex over the CASO. The three locomotives and blowing snow give the impression of a much larger train, but back then as today, trains 438/439 didn't usually run on Sundays, so seeing this 9-car freight this day with this power was rather exciting. Caught it on my way to the Essex train show, only 78 days before total abandonment.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/438-essex-200x150.jpg)
