    @ngineered4u, do you happen to know the main difference between the sd70I and sd75I? They’re pretty much my fav units too and I got 6 of them in my n scale collection even tho they’ve been discontinued from Athearn since 2009 as that was their last run but nevertheless wanted to see if you knew the difference. I was told several times that they’re both absolutely the same design and the only difference was that the sd75 has just a bit more horsepower but I’m sure you or anyone else on here would know best.

  5. @Railfan99.. the SD70/75I’s are were my favourite units to operate. The “Whisper Cab”on these units are far superior to the SD70M-2′s and they are super comfortable to ride in. You are correct about the main difference between the two models. 4000hp on the SD70I and 4300hp on the 75′s.
    There are a few cosmetic difference ie solid running boards on the 70I’s vs a more open mesh type on the later 75′s. Other than that they are identical. The SD70I’s were assigned to to IC for awhile and most of them have 2 fans inside to provide “cooling” for the crews…lol just more hot air blowing in the cab. Most all the new units are of course equipped with air conditioning. We all laughed that the AC was put in to keep all that complicated electronics cool and not for the comfort of the train crew :-)

  6. @Railfan99: If you look behind the cab and below the second air inlet you will see that there is no traction motor blower duct on the engineer side of the SD70i while the 75i has them on both sides. This is the key spotting difference between SD70s and SD75.
