"3394 west clear harbour draw, next stop Fort Erie, C93 out" - you can hear NS C93 coming from miles away as they call for permission for the Drawbridge on CSX, calling signals along the way. I had an event not too far away in Port Colborne and I ducked out hoping to catch these guys between 1500 and 1600 and I was handsomely rewarded at 1530 with a classic Long Hood Forward look. Trailing units were 2631 and 9130 also long hood forward. CP Train 255 was right behind C93 meeting them in the yard, and once CP cleared Brookfield East onto CP, CN 531 came over to exchange cars with C93 (who waits for 531) and both trains would head into Buffalo afterwards. Fort Erie is bumping in the afternoons. After the C93/531 meet, the usual pattern is CP 142, CN 530 (return of 531 from Buffalo) and CN 539 over to Buffalo (around 9 PM) making for more than a half dozen movements in the area for anyone planning a visit. I'm not sure where 531/0 and 539 go, but my bet is one to Frontier yard for CSX interchange and the other to Tift St for BPRR. Corrections welcome with thanks.
Anyone else notice the continuing degradation of businesses in this part of town? The main street is now two way but all the shops are boarded up.. at least the new bridge is in service and it looks nice, with some homage to the old incorporating some of the old iron.

  1. I noticed how decrepit Fort Erie has become in my caption of the three Black CRs in that recent transfer photo. The street facing the railway used to be active; especially with railroad crews going over for lunch, etc. Now, there is nothing. The main street is terrible. I guess the shoppers are all migrating down to the ‘new’ main drag, the one we call Hwy 3.

  2. Too bad….. I also cant figure out why NS transfer symbols keep changing. Next time i see it it will change again I am sure.

  3. This unit is now retired destined for scrap
