  1. Great shot!

    Is 6060 still running?

  2. Jacob: According to http://www.absteamtrain.com the 6060 has been taken out of service due to boiler problems. Don’t know if they have enough money to fix? They are using 2-8-0 41 of Frisco heritage. Bill

  3. 6060′s last run was in 2011, her boiler needs major work (re-tubing I think). The non-profit group that owns her (Rocky Mountain Rail Society) estimates that repairs will cost over $280,000. I was talking to one of the RMRS members recently and it seems they have about half of that money in place and have started ordering materials for the rebuild, and have made arrangements with a boiler company to do the work once funding is in place. Unfortunately it is unknown how much longer raising the money will take, even with lots of grant money being made available for heritage projects in the leadup to Canada’s 150th birthday next year.

My money is on 6060 not steaming until 2018 at least, but I would be very happy to lose that bet.

  4. Hard to not like a shot with those iconic elevators featured!!! Good ol’ 6060. Miss her.

  5. Beautiful shot – the elevators.. matching the motive power to boot. Great work.
