Great shot! We used to have a similar bridge near Tobin, in Trois-Pistoles. CN demolished it 2 years ago unfortunately!
In the case of this bridge, Ian; I understand the farmer, or landowner, has property on both sides of the tracks and this bridge enables him to lead his horses over to the north side pasture. It has been 20 years since I was at the farm and new owners were not as friendly. Times are changing as developers are eyeing everything around Toronto and the GTHA. If this bridge needs replacing it will be with a steel one I’m sure.
It’s weird; I’ve gone back and forth past that field for decades on the 401, and only once have I ever seen the north pasture being used, and that was in the 90s.
I hope it endures for a while to come, even if it isn’t being used that often.
