CN L501 crosses the Grand River in Caledonia behind NS 8072, CN 3000 and a massive 96 car train. This is the first foreign unit to make it down the Hagersville Subdivision since 2005 when NS and Conrail power made it down the line with steel slab trains from the US. Having grown up on this line I never would have imagined that I'd be catching a foreign leader going through my hometown.

  1. Like the fisherman…probably thinking of landing the ‘big one’…you certainly did with your photo! I still find it neat, and weird…to see these big road engines rolling over the Hagersville Sub., having lived in Caledonia and surrounding area for nearly 30 years. I remember first seeing those venerable F units….unreliable by those engineers who controlled them, but to me were always an attractive site….yup, I just dated myself…. :)

  2. Nice catch, Jazzy lad !!!! Trains and women. Who would have thunk it. :o )

  3. Iceberg’s dead ahead!

  4. Hey Joseph, the fisherman obviously isn’t a railway enthusiast, not even looking up at this “wonderful catch” – I find the progression to larger and larger motive power over the past 65 years amazing, from CN H Class Ten-Wheelers (when I first visited Caledonia) to Northern 6167, CN F units, and now these large road units – and a 96 car train, Wow ! Thanks for this, well done. John

  5. Those are foam burgs…. literally

  6. Awesome !!

  7. Nicely done, Jow.

  8. I lived in Caledonia 14 yrs and never saw anything but CN!
