Caption: CN train 580 is pictured heading for industries situated on the Galt Industrial Spur in Cambridge, Ontario as it trundles over the Speed River bridge in the Village of Hespeler. Behind GP9RM 4115 is an empty dimensional flat that the crew will take to Babcock & Wilcox on the Fergus Subdivision later that afternoon. The auto parts boxcars to the right of the unit are sitting on the 1.2 mile Solaware Spur.
This is a remnant of former Grand River Railway trackage that once operated through Hespeler, which was not far from where a station was located on the Hespeler Subdivision, subsequently becoming part of CP and downgraded to a spur. In later years, CN took over this trackage and renamed this section the Solaware Spur, and used it mainly to store auto parts boxcars for the various parts plants on the Galt Industrial Spur, including McPherson near Franklin Blvd.

This is great. The spur lasted into the GEXR era, but remained unused, did it not?
This is awesome. How we had so many parts boxcar companies and now all gone.
Thanks guys.
Yup Jacob, GEXR never used the Solaware Spur and it was slowly parted out to make needed repairs along the Fergus Spur.
Nice shot of gone location !
Really great shot Jason !
Thanks NiagaraMike11 and Klaucker for the additional comments.
