"Connecting the North"
Nearly a decade after the final trip of the Northlander, ONR had returned to the Don Valley! ONR P300, a test train from Cochrane to Toronto and back is winding through the Don Valley with ONT 1809 (the same locomotives that led the final Northlander in 2012), ONT 1805, 3 coaches, and ONT 220. There are many theories that the "return" of the Northlander is just a political stunt, and while I will not discuss my own opinions, I will say that I hope we see more runs in near future!

  1. Great picture Isaac, so good to see ONR action back in the Don Valley ! Now if the Ford government will only live up to their promise. With provincial election fast approaching, Ford would be wise to start the promised service as an “election goodie”, but I am not holding my breathe. Since this test run, nothing but silence. Thanks for posting, John

  2. I think the earliest that ONR could be back is 2025 so the plans will have to survive a new government or the post-election Conservatives. The disappointing sign is that nothing has happened since November. I really hope this wasn’t a one-off.

  3. By the time this becomes a regular run once again, you can be sure the bureaucrats and freeloaders will have at least 3 or 4 more “test” runs under their belts. The excuse will be it has been so long they need to “test” once more. And re-time the run. Very nice photo!
