What a pickup.. don’t imagine these Alco’s had much longer either.
They were all retired the following year in late spring/early summer 1998.

Heckuva photo! That yard was reconfigured around 2005, where most of the sidings were removed and a fence was installed along the street to the left of the Alco.
Thanks for the comment Todd. Yes, there has sure been a lot of changes to the yard over the years. The addition of the Wolverton yard to the west later in the 2000′s certainly changed the landscape of the Galt yard as well. I remember the fences being added as you mentioned along the roadway as a deterrent to all the trespassing at the time in the yard and people using it as a cut through to walk over the big trestle.
